or do outlet covers often create problems instead of preventing them? Once Nathaniel started crawling, our pediatrician asked me if I had covered all electrical outlets. I think I grimaced. No, I had not taken this safety precaution like a good mother should have done. I had a feeling that once those little plastic pieces highlighted the "no-no's", Nate would be drawn to this previously un-noticed curiosity. I had, after all, seen our other children discover the fun of outlet covers. But, now that our respected doctor had asked, I felt guilty and knew I had to dig out the covers from our box of baby sundries.
This morning I walked down the hallway and passed Nate as he sat quietly engrossed with--you guessed it--removing outlet covers. (This was not the first time, by the way. This was simply the first time he has done it since I had a blog to use for writing remarks about it.)
So, what do I do now? Buy childproof covers for the "childproof" covers?

Cissy! It's so fun that you are blogging! Ha ha, well you'll get a kick out of this one. When we were baby sitting I learned about closing doors...and the one time I didn't, I was on the phone with Ben. I don't know how he did it, but Nate found the curling iron, plugged it in, somehow it was on, and was opening and closing it like he was going to use it! I about had a heart-attack. Maybe it's not comforting for you to know, but I guess I can laugh now, although I was so amazed (and nervous) at how smart he was. I thought he was going to use my eye-lash curler and put on lipstick next!
That actually is making me feel better about mine. They are so hard to get off I have to crank them off with a knife. I've always thought they were such a pain but now I can see the good in them.. I tried to hold out as long as I could not wanting to get plug covers. I thought I was so clever when I taped small pieces of papers over the outlet plates...that is until Mason woke up and, first thing he did, was rip the papers of EVERY SINGLE one. ha ha ha
They are smart. Good Luck.
