Conversation with Dallin (of course)...
Mom, did you know that Keoki is a Spanish name?
--Um, I think that is actually a Hawaiian name.
No, Matthew told me it's Spanish.
--I see. Where did you even hear that name anyway?
On Veggie Tales. The bwock-a-wee (broccoli) says, "I'm Don Keoki!"
--Don Keoki?
Yup.
--Do you mean Don Quixote?
That's what I said, mom. Don Keoki.
--Oh, then yes, it is a Spanish name.
Optional questions for additional study:
*Why does Don Quixote the broccoli star in a Veggie Tales show about the Golden Rule?
*As familiar as I am with Dallin's peculiar pronunciations, how could I have possibly misunderstood him in the first place? (Keoki=Quixote, of course.)
*How does Matthew even know that Don Quixote is Spanish?
*Why does Matthew's opinion on word origins outweigh mine?

Absolutely captures Dallin's personality. I would like to bottle him up and eat him sometimes.
Hilarious.
some excellent food for thought. Ty and I actually came up with some answers:
1. Broccoli comes from Spain
2. There's a definite disconnect between Hawaiian and Spanish
3. Matt probably has a friend named Quixote (according to Tyler, Matt's imaginary friend)
4. He's a boy, you're a girl. Sorry Mom. Gender overrules.
Love that Dallin kid. Such a crackup:)
I love these kinds of conversations!
So cute. I am glad you wrote it down to remember. He will be glad some day. :)
